Limit on number of 301 redirects??

I'm thinking of changing about 1000 image pages that will help to decrease the dilution of my site.

For one property listing I may have 10 images, of which each image has dynamic page FOR E.G.(www.site.com/propertyID_7/imageID_546). Each property listing will now have javascript code where you can view the larger images on the propertyID page.

Will this cause any problems with so many redirects in the .htaccess file, with SE or the file itself?

    ALSO
On average, how long does it take for the old pages to be removed from SE results? And after this can you then remove the redirects from the htaccess file?

    Thanks Ian

It depends on how often the pages are spidered, it can take 2 visits for SE's to be happy that the page has actually moved so if you get 2 visits per week to your pages then it should be just over a week.

If there are no pages linking to the old pages then you can remove the redirect but i would leave it to be safe.
