Is there a way for me to configure an ad unit to show a specific amount of ads? Or a maximum amount of ads? For example, I'm using the 300x250 ad unit, and it's showing in most cases 4 ads inside one ad unit. It seems to me it's too much, and therefor much less noticeable by users. Is there a way (Of course while following adsense TOS) for me to configure it to show 2-3 ads in that ad unit instead of 4? Thank you.
No, there isn't. The only alternative would be to choose image instead of text ads, which will display only 1 ad. Otherwise, you don't have a choice in the number of ads that show up. I'm guessing that Google displays as many ads as he has for each page. They probably display less than 4 ads only when they don't have enough inventory for the page's keywords. Or maybe they cycle the number of ads to insure that people don't get ad blindness as fast.

There is a way, but not in that ad unit. There are 2 reasons I always use the square ad unit - 1. Larger type than all the others, and 2. Three ads maximum. Try it out. I have used nothing else for 4 years now. It's a little bit smaller than what you are using, but you might like it. The CTR is very good, PLUS you get to dump that 4th ad. Oftentimes, only one or two ads show up. Very nice.
Square ads are said to generate better clicks. I used them in my tantawi site to fit an information site or blog.
That's the stadard format, to get less ads display in one units. either it is no more ads matching or reduce your ads unit size
