I posted a thread in the freebies section that was offering a product for only $1. Following this rule posted and stickied... Affiliate links - Affiliate links are allowed in signatures, but they are not allowed in posts. I told thread viewers about what was being offered and if they were interested the link was in my signature. I come back home and have received a 5 point infraction for reasons "You have received an infraction at Digital Point Forums. Reason: Spamming ------- Signature Link Spam You need to give the link in your post." Now I was actually really trying to follow the rules by not spamming and not including the link in my post, and somehow I got an infraction for spamming by not including the link in my post? And my post was deleted for some reason as well... Can a moderator please explain to me the reasoning behind this, it is getting very frustrating coming here when it seems like half the forum mods are on a power trip. Also I know this is the suggestion area, so I guess my suggestion is to the mods to lighten up on the good posters and crack down on the real spammers... Thanks, Brett
telling folks to click on your affiliate link is the same as posting that link in your thread. not allowed
Telling folks to click the link in your sig, which is an affiliate link, is indirectly posting the affiliate link in your post. You should post the non-affiliate link in your post, and if people wanna thank you, they'll follow your sig link without you asking. Hope this answers the question
Read the BST announcement. What you did is eligible for an immediate 7-day ban. You may in NO WAY actively promote affiliate links. 1. You may NOT post the links in a thread. 2. You may NOT post to tell people to click the aff link in your sig. 3. You may NOT PM the aff link to members. 4. You may NOT start threads to get people to contact you privately just to send them the aff link. It can sit in your sig. That's it. Nothing more. No added attention.
