Google is become more and more arrogant. Hopefully there will be one new search engine appear soon to compete against Google.

Well i think it will be like in the good old days when you needed to call a girl at her parents house to take her out on a date. LOL
I guess we will appreciate the access to information a lot more than we do now.
I wouldn't agree that professionals will loose their jobs because if they need google they are not professionals.
Fact is that google can not go down. Imagining that is like taking a leap to the past instead of the future. I would rather imagine people with brain chips in their head and with super intelligence. :)) Now that is a good future :))

    Life would be very tough:-
    • Find Our Way Around Town
    • Remember Recipes
    • Enjoy Ourselves At The Office
    • Remember Celebrity Names
    • Drive Ourselves Around (coming soon)
    • Figure Out When (Or Where) Movies Are Playing
    • Understand Other Languages Besides English
    • Remember Famous Quotes
    • Getting Unit Conversions

You are right! But, instead of we (normal people) thinking about how would be the life without Google, why the owners of that company never think about that?

    1) Where students will look for the answers and detailed study of their questions? Bing, Yahoo or any other Search engine would at least get you some results.

    2) Some of the professionals will lose their jobs as they are considered only for doing Google research. They could easily learn to do their research from other search engines.

    3) We may face some spammy and worthless sites well as we used to see when try to research on other search engines. I have encountered more false results on Google than on any other Seachengine. I use mostly Yahoo and Bing. Googles has a more extensive DataBase but it has lost its precision in SERPs.
I really got feed up with "do you mean?" I would love to see the results of my search inquiry and not from Google's interpretation

    4) Google algorithms are very large and effective more larger pool of the sites.
Google has become entangled in their supposed rules about quality and can not keep up their search mechanism with the reality of results IMO.

Google's effectiveness is overrated. For adsense I can't understand how Google get away with its rates. Why well Google has some cloud, 88 billion search inquiries but a great percentage is due to android. That waters down the percentage of sales. People from mobile Internet in android come in greater percentage from the developing world.

I think that in this case, people would come up with something else, an alternative site. Otherwise, our life would be very difficult:confused:

i cant imagine how newbies would find what they need without google. Here in my place, when someone of older people go on internet, no matter if they look for youtube or something else and no matter if they know url or no, they write in address bar youtube and open youtube via google. So for them would be very hard. But for me too, i love it! :)

Life without the company or without the search engine?
If you ask me, life without the company would be like a zombie apocalypse for me.
Most of my revenue comes from google, it would have been harder to finish lots of school projects in the past without google, and the list can go on and on:
    - No gmail (please don`t make me go back to yahoo mail)
    - No Google maps ( I would be getting lost more often)
    - No Youtube (do you want a world wihout youtube? )
    - No android phones (I`m afraid of Siri)

I think I can find ten more points. So please stop with the scary stories, it not Halloween.

On a more serious note, the world will move one, other companies will gladly step in and come up with not so good replacements.

There will always be something bigger and better that comes along. But as of right now, Google is at the top of the food chain.

This may have been said before but to think how reliable everyone is on search engines is scary. Think of all the high school students, and even middle school students who cheat their way to A's to get into colleges. It is going to back fire and we will have a lot of people who rely on "searched" knowledge, not stored knowledge. Not good.
