The concept of Google will never disappear. There are many decent search engines out there doing exactly what Google is doing. Bing is a perfect example. They have grown in popularity and relevance and even have products similar to Google's (Webmaster Tools, Bing Ads, and so on).

Where Google seems driven solely by profit and even uses algorithmic updates to weed out "spammy" or "irrelevant content" (can someone say no new or small websites?), leaving only the big spenders in the top spots of the search results, Bing is offering major incentives to use their search engine in the form of Bing Rewards. That's right, by simply using Bing's search engine, you can get gift cards and other great rewards.

The fact is, Google could cease to exist tomorrow morning and by tomorrow afternoon, one of the other major search engines will have taken its place.

Google is really a shi*ty search engine these days. It is motivated solely by greed and couldn't care less about relevancy. The only reason it remains the king of search engines is because people are reluctant to change. Let enough people get fed up with the bullsh*t though and Google will collapse.

Social media is great as alternative to Google.

e.g: Facebook is no 2 in traffic term for worldwide. You can make a good living with Facebook only.

Agree - Bing and Yahoo's search results are much better. Google throws in too many ads, it's all about money with Google. Take this scenario: You Rank #1 in SERPS for your primary keyword and there are 3 ads on top of yours. Frustrating!

Google owns companies that you can't even imagine...
It will never disappear from the internet.
Google made JavaScript to be this what it is and it's investing in some serious software developments, one of them is android and other mobile platforms.
Android is the most used mobile os nowadays and it will remain the most used since the chinese suppliers are using it for their smartphones and tablets.
Just take a look at the chinese market and you will get the google's mobile os idea ;)
And google drive is very, very powerful tool for companies who does not care about spending money, they care about quality and solid rock service!
    Google can provide that :)
Personally, I don't like google, but I'm using them because nowadays they're the best for me.
When it happens something, we'll migrate and adapt - that's all.

Any company has the ability to go under, even Google. I'm sure everyone thought Enron was going to be around for years... The fact is, Google has been making a ton of mistakes in how they run their business and while they're still the most popular search engine and online business out there, that could change with one stupid mistake on the parts of their corporate heads. There is no such thing as an unsinkable company and those companies who think they are usually end up sinking in the end...

Less online income you mean? How would people find your websites a few years ago without social networks like we know now?

    No traffic, no income.

Dude, you can survive without fb, twitter, whatsapp, gmail and google, but cannot survive without food and water.

If in worse case scenario, a person has internet connection, but nothing to eat or drink, he will go mad after 2 or 3 days. At that time, these things won't matter to him.

There upsides and downsides in this question. Yes it's easier to find information that you need, but on the other hand kids almost stopped using books for their studies and homework.Just copy/paste all the information and voila you are the God.

Google comes in for a lot of criticism and some of it rightly so but to be fair it still provides many website owners with a main source of traffic.

Life without Google is tough. It was one of the things that I dealt with when I was in China for the summer. There are other search engines out there, so you can still find the things that you are looking for, but other services like Google Maps (there is Baidu Maps, but it is all in Chinese), and most importantly, Gmail, were inaccessible as well.

You're absolutely right. No matter how big a company is, the risk of making stupid decisions will never be 100% eliminated. Even if they do pay a crap load of money to have top tier executives and advisors. A prime example of this is the Lehman Brothers :)
