Hi. Although I don't post often, I spend time every day reading posts on the site. It has helped my site quite a bit. I have a question and your help is appreciated. I am considering buying a domain with a hyphen. I have listed two domains below. The hyphened domain is NOT the one I am considering buying. I am using these as an example. So...hypothetically...if I bought life-insuranceplans.com and someone else already owned lifeinsuranceplans.com...would that be a good idea? All of my traffic would be search traffic. My main question is if it is OK to buy a domain with a hyphen (just one) in it when it is rich in key words. Thanks
Thanks...but how much less? Just a little or a lot? Quick example...If the search term that I am hyphening gets 100 searches per day and I can buy a domain without hyphens that gets about 20 searches per day...which one would be better? Thanks again.
Its ok. What all matter is how you build link and promote the domain will determine how much traffic you will received. But why don't you register both of the domain, then redirect it to a non hypen domain.
I would tend not to buy - names. personal choice I suppose. Think it is one of the things that look OK (sometimes better than two/three words all running into each other) but I think there is a natural tendency for people to type letters rather than symbols. Just my 2p worth
