Im looking for someone who could help me find more information regarding:

    Licensing Music
to be abe to use commercial tracks on Demo CDs / Mix CDs to Sell & Give Away.

    MP3 Downloads
to offer paid downloads of commercial tracks

If anyone could help with this it would be much appreciated.

    Hi
I don't know where you are based but in the UK we have the The Mechanical Copyright Protection Society if you want to use music in any way at all (from making cd's to playing cd's in a cafe). Even if you aren't in the UK maybe they could point you to a similar organisation in your country?

As far as downloads are concerned I think that would be a distribution issue so I reckon maybe contact the distributors of the music you want to sell.

In my experience it's really hard to get distribution if you are a small company because the music business is dominated by quite a few retail giants who get their stock for pennies! They may want a breakdown of who your intended audience is, how many customers etc. However i guess it could be different depending on which genre of music you want to sell and who the distributers are.

You have to make arrangements with whomever holds the recording rights and so on.

What you seem to be wanting is some kind of distribution deal - and then you are up against big industry names=hard competition - and probably no more than 10% commission on sales, at the most.

But these rules vary from country to country - so I'd find out who manages the royalty market in your country.
