    That would have been interesting.

    They can't help themselves.

    How so???

That is there's always dissent. I think it's in the nature of men to be gregarious, and that somewhat inflates perspective that really isn't all that two-sided when one really looks into it. San Fran isn't one perspective, it is mixed...but there's a lean-left stigma here...for better or worse.

    ; )

Politicians mostly look old to me, because they are...of coarse their looks aren't going to be that good.

This is what I said in my first post:

'Note: These aren't stereotypes, it's just a lifetime of experience with libs/cons/others. It might be different elsewhere, but not here.'

I noted there were exception (throughout that post), but I was trying to be candid with my experience...obviously there are the hollywood liberals and so forth throughout the country.

    It just "is not"

Most of these oppressive views of sex come from idiotic religions. Christianity plays a HUE role in the oppression of sexual freedom throughout history.

I'm not really fond of the idea of "marriage"... but I can assure you of one thing. If I do ever get married, we will be swingers. ;)

You can frown upon it all you want, I really could care less about anyone's ignorant misconceptions and judgements.

God, you guys really mistinterpet everything I say. It was a question. I was implying that it was a standard we grow-up with, not necessarily one that's absolute.

It's as though I have to explain everything I say to you guys (mostly yo and you), because you fail to comprehend.

Ferret, I honestly think you have no idea what you're reading most of the time.

Yo-yo... while I tend to side with you on most issues, I think you're misinterpreting a lot of what Rick has to say. While I don't particularly understand why a lot of men have such hang ups about a woman's sexual history, I can understand where you are coming from when you talk about how certain moral standards are impressed upon us early on, such as a woman sleeping around= a whore.

I don't agree with that, and I don't think it's fair to judge a woman based on how many partners she has had. We don't do that to men. It's a double standard and I don't like it, but I know that it's been that way for a very long time.

I think that stems to his grammar.

Thanks. I think everyone does such, but some more than others.

I try not to ask, but sometimes people that do such have negative reasons why e.g sexual abuse, neglect, beatings. It's not as though it's their fault...but since I've been with those kinds of girls...it's a bit hard to maintain a relationship.

It's also a trust issue. I don't think half the women out there should trust half the men out there...call me a hater. I get really heated over how many women get pregnant and the guy disappears.
I don't think that should fly over anyones head. The situation of having a woman/man that's slept with 40 or more of the opposite sex...without issues or disease...well, I'd say that's quite rare.

    1. It's fun giving rick a hard time
    2. sometimes his writing is left up to interpretation... I'm guilty of this as well.

Actually - men don't do that to men. A good amount of women talk smack about guys who have a lot of partners.

No, women talk smack about a man who cheats on his significant other with a lot of partners. Personally, I could care less about how many sexual partners a man has had, as long as when he commits to me he's prepared to remain faithful. I don't talk about it, either. In any case, women who do don't consider a man with a lot of partners a whore. Men who sleep around don't have such a stigma attached to them as women do.

This is probably the oldest double standard in the book. I thought it was strange that the guys were cool for sleeping around and the girls were called sl-ts, as a teen. This was a while back now, so I am not sure how it relates to today's teens as a culture.

No, that they often are ashamed. Women don't feel good about sleeping around, guys often do. So, maybe the whole stigma comes from how women and men themselves have such a different self image regarding what their sexual experiences are ...

if I remember correctly it harks back to when there weren't things like DNA testing, etc to determine the father of the child, amongst other reasons. Illigitimate children (ie, children who's parents weren't married validly) didn't have inheritence rights, and often not even the same rights at all. Not having parentage in question was exceptionally important when nobility/royalty was concerned, due to titles being passed down, etc.

Basically unwed mothers where looked down upon, because "if they can't keep their legs closed before marriage who's to say they will if they do get married". And the guys didn't have the social stigma attached because it was very difficult to determine who the father was, even when the child was older (although it was easier with male children). Why do you think people used to compliment the parents by saying, "He looks just like his father," etc? :p

Another reason could be that if a woman slept around she was acting like a prostitute, which were scorned upon in a classist society because they were often exceptionally poor, couldn't get a husband, had no backing/support from their family, etc and thus were at the bottom of the social ladder. Thus, for a middle- or working-class woman to act like that... it was unthinkable.

And yeah, it seems pretty one-sided, and it is, but at the time it wasn't as one-side as everyone thinks. I mean, with most of the woman of the middle- and working class-families not wanting to have sex outside marriage, where did the men go? The whore-houses. Yet even then that could cause problems if they came from more reputably families and were caught.

It's interesting to note that the protection of a woman's virtue was very important to her family. Young ladies often had chaperones to protect them and make sure they didn't get the chance to get up to mischief of any sort, and when pistol-dueling was at the height of it's popularity, all you had to do was suggest that a particular woman slept around and you'd have her husband/fiance and probably every male family member in the area challenging you to a duel to retain her honour and that of the family too.
