Letting a New Site Sit for a while? pros and cons if any?

I am building too many sites at once. :) Seems I'll never get to them all. In a way that may be good. A little bit getting done at a time seems to be more natural and thus probably gains Google's trust over time.

But is it a bad idea to say setup a site with almost no content and just let it sit there for a while while I'm off working on other sites. Will all that time sitting there doing nothing harm the site or just optimize my time. That is I'll be working on it after a year and it will be ready to come out of the sandbox when I start adding more content?

Is it a bad idea just to toss it up there with say a new WordPress or Joomla install but without ANY data on it. That is install without sample data or remove it. Say I was going to put a fan site about Alice Cooper. Put the site up and say, Alice Cooper Fan site coming here and leaving it at that for six months to a year. What will that do to my site?

Is the Sandbox limited to Google or most SE?

I know I'm tired of getting sand kicked in my face. LOL

    Thanks for the help!

A site with no unique content isn't going to help you. If you don't have the time to at least write a home page, spend $10 to $15 and hire someone to write an article for you and put it up with at least a few incoming links.

Okay. That makes sense. I have done this in the past but from now on I'll wait until I get the home page written. I am more worried about hurting myself though. :) Better safe than do damage.
