I had a problem with my Joomla site which a few so-called Joomla experts couldn't solve. I was quoted over $1500 for a full reinstall and decided to try rebuilding the site myself.

It was a great decision as I've really got a feel of how Joomla fits together now and I've learnt so much in ther lst 2 weeks I feel like I can do everything with it short of php coding.

When I've got the time I find myself shopping for new extensions to add to the site and I enjoy configuring them and maknig the site a little better every day.

Our Site Art From Steel began as a brochureware site for our products but we are currently rebuilding to into a full e-commerce retail site over the next few weeks.

    Here's what we've done so far ...

    - Seamlessly integrated a wordpress blog into the site using MojoBlog
    - Integrated the site with VirtueMart
    - Created a members only section
    - Added loads of great admin backend features such as automatic daily backups, SEO features, Froogle Feeds, Dynamic sitemaps

I've got two very competent experts working with me right now. One is populating my complex shipping rates for me, the other is building custom payment modules. What I do appreciate about Joomla is that it seems like everything's possible.

I do suggest spending a lot of time configuring your site yourself. Joomla isn't a very intuitive interface and some of its features are confusing. Once you get over that hurdle though you'll get a lot of benefits with it.

    Best wishes,

    Martin

I run and own metpage.org. Besides some normal components i've also developed the com_secureregistration (When registering), the com_concert (Tour Database) and the tracker frontend (for registered users only). I also have IPB running tied with Joomla and so far everything works great :)
