The mission of Let's Say Thanks is to provide a way for individuals across the country to recognize U.S. troops stationed overseas. By submitting a message through this site you have the opportunity to send a free personalized postcard greeting to deployed servicemen and women. The postcards, depicting patriotic scenes and hometown images, were selected from a pool of entries from children across the country. All you have to do is click on your favorite design and either select the message that best expresses your sentiment or draft a personal note. The postcards are then printed on the Xerox iGen3® Digital Production Press and mailed in care packages by military support organization Give2TheTroops®. Xerox is committed to helping people across the nation express their gratitude to our troops overseas. The launch of this program is aimed at reminding them how much Americans appreciate their service. http://www.letssaythanks.com/Home1024.html
Not to degrade what they're doing, it's awesome, but why not send something like Creme Savers ... Atleast they'll be able to have something to snack on, and some guy won't get made fun of for reading a sappy thank you card
If 160,000 or so of them were not fighting in an illegal BS "war" in a country most Americans don't even know the location of there would be no need for any cards or sweets.
Wow, I'm guessing you're not an American... I thank them for their willingness to sacrifice for the greater good; most importantly their life and limb, and time with their family.
you mean illegally invading other countries is for the greater good? Do you think the families of the dead iraqis and those who had to flee their homes to avoid conflict areas would agree?
I'm not saying the war was justified, please reread my post... Troops serve with the willingness to sacrifice for the greater good; if they're sent to fight in an illegal war, it's not their fault, they didn't decide where to get deployed to, they just followed orders. How could the responsibility of the Iraq war fall on any shoulders other then our current administration and congress?
Yup, willing to pick up arms and stand ready to defend the country you live in.. I'd consider that a greater good... Because I'm a patriot, appreciate the troops, and understand the sacrifices they're making, that makes me brainwashed? So be it. I'd rather be brainwashed then ungrateful...
Didn't know that Iraq attacked USA so you have to defend yourself ? When did this happen ? I am sure if it would it would be on the news or something.... From what exactly are you defending in Iraq ?
1) Who brought up the topic of Iraq? I'm talking about soldiers serving the country. 2) Iraq didn't attack the USA. 3) Why would you blame the troops and not the politicians for military ops? Please reread my posts, I'm not talking about any current military operations, I'm talking about being grateful for our troops willingness to serve the country...
Are you not reading my posts on purpose? We're in the US. Regardless of any campaigns in other countries, we have troops that serve the country to keep it safe. Not all of our military assets are allocated to Iraq. There are other troops working hard to defend our borders in other ways. They give up time with their families, they preform jobs that present hazards to their health, they do it for less money then they could make in the civilian job market, and they do it with a willingness to be sent overseas and risk their life if needed... That deserves gratitude. Please be aware of the difference between supporting our troops and supporting the war.
I would be happy to send them a "welcome home alive and healthy" card. Anybody know where I can do that?
Check out http://www.anysoldier.com/ Instead, anyone think it would be a neat idea to take up an offering, and put the dollars together to send the units something they'll like... such as a hooters calendar, or hand warmers (it does get cold there)?
The both have a bad habit of doing such. Thanks for standing up for our country and our soldiers. People can always contribute to the link in my signature: Reconnect America All good charitable organizations that do great things for our troops. For ags, iatbm and iul, I'm not aware of any links where you can make a donation to thank those you support. I just isn't fair, is it?
Get into your head. What your soldiers are doing is failure and nothing more. The whole world realized what a mistake going around the world attacking countries that did nothing to harm US was ! Nations and countries are going out of Iraq. It was stupid from the beginning but you just didn't realize it yet. And status of the broken US on the global scene will hit you hard soon.... No one wanna play with loosers. That is the fact and only people in caves cannot see it. Why should I support your troops when I don't even support ours that we sent to Iraq, Afghanistan and Kosovo. Why should our mothers live in fear because of some "greater good" Give me a break man. The whole community is laughing at you daily you posting crap and you still think you are "winning" as you think you are "winning" in Iraq and Afghan ...
We saved the Iraqi people from Saddam Hussein liked we saved the Europeans from Hitler. In addition the US fought a cold war for 50 years to liberate central and eastern europe from the communists. Europe couldn't even deal with Yugo crisis and had to have the Americans come to the rescue again. That's what we are defending in Iraq.
