Lets hear it for medical advancement

The improvement of Kevin Everitt is an astonishing event and a testimony to the value of medical research. Kevin Everitt is the professional football player who suffered a spinal cord injury two weeks ago. Immediately, it was suggested that he might die, or would be paralyzed for life.

New advances in science included immediate treatment, whereby the affected parts of his body received immediate treatment and specifically body temperatures were lowered.

Currently Kevin Everitt is moving his hands and legs. Plans are being made to move him to another hospital nearer his home.

His recovery to date is an astonishing upbeat positive symbol of the value of medical research. Over the past two weeks I have scarcely followed this event, but when doing this have seen examples of Christopher Reeve, Mike Buonicotti (a football player in a wheel chair who suffered this type of injury about 20 years ago) and Mike Utley (another former football player who suffered this injury in 1991--and has been wheelchair bound ever since).

If the good news from the current prognosis continues he will be able to walk.

That would be a miracle, insofar as Kevin Everitt is concerned, but would be testimony to the value of scientific research.

I would truly hope that advancements in science and medical research would be taken to heart with regard to the stem cell issue and that the federal government would support expanded research, just as states are doing and as other nations are doing. Advancements there could produce similar results for people who now have no hope for recovery from various ailments.

Science definitely is amazing. I pity people who chose to wonder at myth and fairly tales over something as spectacular as science.

The sad thing is, There are some people who even after being given this amazing gift by science will claim that it was prayer that healed them. It's the height of ungreatfulness.

If the history is any indication, government destroys everything that it gets involved in... Why would you want them to interfere

This is why I agree with stem cell research.

    Excellent news... :)

Amazing... I am happy, this research is a boon for mankind, and a ray of hope for innumerable paralyzed people.

I wish him good health, and surely he will be back on the field in a couple of years.

    Truely Awesome... :)
