This is for those individuals that are new to any type of business whether it be online, or off. Don't Expect Much I hate to burst your bubble, but there are no certainties that your business is going to be successful. Never count your chickens before they hatch, and never ever place all your eggs in one basket. I don't have any money to spend on marketing To be honest you are going to have to work extremely hard to get known, or have trust in your product. Buyers like to see repetition and if you could see some statistical data on how people search to find product then you would understand this. I'm not saying that you will not be successful you are just going to have a hard time getting your feet off the ground. Don't Cave into Pressure Whoa is me, whoa is me. I'm not ever going to get it right. -- Odds are if you are new and have not any seen results you have probably said something similar to that. This is the worst thing you could say, don't do it. Always be like or say something similar to "Well #### that didn't work, I wonder what else I could try now." If you keep the looking forward attitude and never look back and cry about your past you will get a lot further. I'm also not implying to not look back at your past to see your improvements I'm saying don't cry over it because you can never change it. Be unique Whether you offer macaroni pictures of the Mona Lisa, hats that hold a pack of cigarettes or sunglasses that have a television built in, as long as you approach your idea or product from a unique angle that has never been done you are considered outside the box. Trust me this is where you want to be. Being inside the box means you have limitations sooner or later if you are inside the box you are going to hit one of the sides. Be respectful I'm going to tell you this and you will probably think I'm a fake person when in fact its just being a good business person. Pretend to care, even if you don't. If you have ever worked in hospitality then you know how big of A$$HOLES people can be. The thing is even if you think there idiots or just a big complainer pretend to listen, even if it cost you a few bucks take care of the issue, not only will it shut them up, but odds are they will be talking about you and your "FANTASTIC" customer surface. Just don't be fake. Take it or leave it the choice is yours -- I wish you all the best
Your absolutely welcome I plan to release a few tips in Business and Marketing each week. @webcosom - agreed.
Thanks for sharing your personal insights. But I disagree on the first one. Sometimes we need to be hopeful, have a positive mindset and geared to success to keep us going Well, that's just me. Can't move if I think I'm doomed to failure.
Right, but if you read on you will see that you should always look ahead, and don't whine about the past. There are no certainties and you should know that, which is why should always have a fallback. Maybe your voice activated vending machine with built in microwave doesn't take off, you could always fall back on your invisible suit.
Those are some fucking AWESOME points I can't stress enough. Especially the part about, if you have no money you had better expect to put in the time. Newbies read these asshats all the time on the boards who tell them they can make money on free scripts, free content, free designs. Sure, if you are planning to work for adsense pennies and bust your fucking ass for hours on end for months or years. Tip: You are essentially trading off your free hours of labor for the money you refuse to invest in your business. I do not know about you and your personal lives, but my time is actually of some value to me. So putting in endless hours chasing FREE is not for me. So if your business plan goes something like this.... I am going to use the exact same free script as thousands of others, and the exact same sponsor free galleries or content like thousands of others, and the same design as thousands of others, and repeat what they say on the boards, like thousands of others.... then you will FAIL. So plan for it. Accept it. Get used to it. For every ONE success story, there are hundred or thousands who've failed. Much like gambling in a casino. It amazes me that many people simply think that they can do everything the same as someone else to the T on mass content and free scripts to get better results then everyone else. While I am sure it could be possible, it's a fool's errand and the odds are against you. Simply put, you have to build a better mouse trap, and you ain't going to do that for FREE or by copy catting hundreds or thousands of others like a bunch of sheep. Hate to burst the bubble, but it is true.
Part time efforts will produce part time results and full time efforts will produce full time results. I agree not to expect too much at first and do not rely on friends and family when writing your business plan.
@argon - I agree and both disagree at the same time. The key is to put all the time you can whether it be part time or full time. You will see results as long as you work towards your goal. It may come quicker, or it may take more time. Just stick with it.
