For all of you who experienced an increase or decrease in your PR, lets discuss the sites for a minute. I think if enough people answer these seven questions and possibly more (feel free to add), we will have a better general idea. There are enough people on this site to see if we can make any sense out of this. I will start. Please tell us:

    1. The change in PR (from what to what)
    2. The age of the domain
    3. Did you sell links on your site?
    4. Did you buy links on other sites?
    5. How did you get backlinks (natural, reciprocal exchanges, 3-way exchanges,
    blog rolls, commenting, etc)
    6. Do you have your sites on the same network interlinked in any way?
    7. Are some of your links on unrelated sites or on pages that have links to unrelated sites (blog rolls, spammy link exchanges,
    guestbooks, etc)?

    1. The change in PR (from what to what)
biggest change was PR4 -> PR1...very strange though, all sub pages from the home are PR2 and my portfolio with all the unrelated links to sites we have designed is a PR3?!?

    2. The age of the domain
    6 years

    3. Did you sell links on your site?
    No

    4. Did you buy links on other sites?
    No

    5. How did you get backlinks (natural, reciprocal exchanges, 3-way exchanges, blog rolls, commenting, etc)
We just started building links 1 month ago. It was a PR4 with very few backlinks. Most of my links came from social bookmarking, commenting on related blogs, top commentator plugins, site on our network (always had these links though) and 3-way related link exchanges.

    6. Do you have your sites on the same network interlinked in any way?
On this site, all of the sites on our network were linking to this site and we were linking back (related and unrelated) because it was our portfolio, maybe we should have put rel="no follow" on the portfolio.

    7. Are some of your links on unrelated sites (blog rolls, spammy link exchanges, guestbooks, etc)?

No on unrelated sites, but some of the link exchanges may have added links on the same page as mine that were unrelated.
