i noticed...eg. on problogger.net that if you have to option to boomark a blog its often the URL right off feedburner, and not the url of the feed from the website. Eg. my blog's feed on feedburner would be: http://feeds.feedburner.com/Search-Engine-Optimization-Webmaster-Seo-Blog as opposed to http://www.1up-seo.com/blog/feed right off my site. my Question is whether there is any advantage why eg. the big bloggers like problogger do it via feedburner ? cheers, georg
The only reason and it's a big one, that you would want to use Feedburner is so that you can track and analyse readers who read your blog via feedreaders. One side benefit is also the saving in bandwidth as Feedburner polls your feed at regular intervals and then serves it out to your readers. This is only an issue if your hosting plan is stingy with their bandwidth allowance, or your blog becomes uber popular. Once you've installed the Feedburner Wordpress plugin, you don't have to worry about losing readers who've already subscribed via your old feed URL either. They are automatically redirected to the Feedburner one.
