Hello lovely chaps. Im rather new to the SEO field, but am jumping in head first with a couple of sights to see if I can yield results...does all this make sense for a decent strategy: All pages with decent keyword density Decent Title of the page with keywords <h1>, <h2> tags with keywords A mild submission to some directories Chasing for high PR back links with decent anchor text A lot of people talk of article submission but surely that content would be better on your site in the first place? Hope I'm on the right track here, tracking down (and paying) for decent pr backlinks it tricky Many Thanks RiverCottage
You pretty much summed up the main stuff but there are a lot of little things that need to be done and they add up. When getting backlinks you need to check what sites link to that site and if they are relevant and also use maybe 3-5 different anchor texts. Articles with a link to your site on them give your site a certain trust value so you don't need to be worrying about it being classed as a spam site, all the other SEO you've done will have a lot more value when your site is trusted.
Agree with all points except for 'chasing high pr backlinks'. Especially for a new website, it is unnatural & ineffective to have too many links from high PR sources right off the bat. Start small - get inside the more important directories, start syndicating some unique articles (do NOT place these same articles on your site as that can warrant a duplicate content issue), and gradually add more relevant and more qualified links to your site.
