I received my first batch of articles(5) from Miles today, about a day after I asked for them, and here's my feedback.

I told Miles I wouldn't sugar coat it so here goes.

First let me make a couple things clear so you can put this into perspective. Very few things make me want to self-induce, vomiting like most "testimonials" and "reviews" I see around the Warrior forum...the Special Offer forum in particular...so much disingenuous drivel spewed forth around some of the worst products ever to disgrace the IM market...

And most "reviews" here are, in fact, paid testimonials since a "free" review copy is often given. In fact, in this instance I received a discount of $6 off of my order so if you think that taints my judgment and affects what I'm going to say then discount everything you are about to hear.

Second, I've "hired" more than a few writers over the years and many (most) of the articles I've received hit the trash bin, never to see the light of my hard drive let alone be released for public consumption. I, after all, am a superior intellect with a very sophisticated writing style and not only are my hired writers supposed to emulate that style but read my my mind as well and know exactly what I want without me communicating it.

(In case you didn't figure it out, the last sentence was written with tongue firmly in cheek while I revealed my OWN weaknesses.)

So you might say I've got high standards...probably unreasonably so.

And I didn't throw Miles' articles in the garbage.

There was a grammar/typo and a larger structural/content issue...probably more a reflection on trying too hard to get things out the door quickly rather than inability. But Miles more than graciously corrected them...quickly.

Neither issue was indicative of someone who has a hard time putting together a sentence using English properly.

I use this sort of content to actually be read and to attract traffic (not just for backlinks) and I want something that is representative of my work, me/my clients and what my audience wants. (It's not just to be sliced and diced into gibberish for throw-away sites i.e spinners, seNuke etc)

And I gave Miles the task of delivering 5 articles covering 3 very diverse topics...which must have been a pain in the arse.

And he did a good job.

Ultimately I'd like to be able to take a writer's output and use it without spending time "correcting". To be honest, I think that, after a couple "go-rounds" while I flesh out my expectations so he is clear, Miles is more than capable of filling that role.

Also understand that great copywriters tell you that most readers read at a 4th grade level. That's not a knock, it's reality. So even with the most sophisticated readers...engineers, presidents etc....the most effective communication is simple. (Not the "high fallutin" jargon I tend to use)

Miles fits the bill here too with a simple, conversational tone.

In other words, give him a shot, especially if you're thinking about working with someone longer term. You certainly won't be wasting your money, you'll actually have usable material when he's done.
