I know most of you will be happy because you have got some higher rank in PR but there must be some friends who will be unhappy on their pr drop or little boost. What you have learned in this PR update? What technique has worked for you? And which technique didn't prove useful as you might expected ? Thank You.
Dude we don't even know there has been a PR update, only some screwy NEW datacenter info. It looks all fooked up. I'm not counting anything as a PR update until Cutts says so or the numbers make some actual sense and the datacenters and toolbar is sync'd.
if you have site with pr0 and now some dc are showing pr5 then it doesn't mean that pr is being updated and these dcs are showing updated pr ?
It's been noted that the toolbar hasn't updated, and the DC's "new" PR values are sketchy at best and in many cases don't make sense.
I am sure PR has been updated because few hours ago it was only 2 dc showing update now it has been propagated to 5 dc.
I dunno, I think that these strange numbers are tied in with the link quality issue, so people who 'game' PR by buying links may be falling foul of some new PR quality filter a la Jagger. Clean sites with lots of organic links benefit whilst the link gamers don't. But I'm probably very wrong - wouldn't be the first time.
i have 3 sites i'm watching in the same industry, i've used the same link building technique for all of them. At best they ALL should be 6's at worst 5's. One of the sites is showing a 4. things are screwy right now, so i am not willing to accepting one answer until it's done.
I´m sure google has updated their pr algorithm. They made some big changes... btw @ Nokia999, you are Chinese?
I'm very interested in wether this is an export or not myself. I've been doing some testing of the SEO effects of article submissions. You can see my results thus far in this thread: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=59308
It's actually been on 6 DCs since about 0130 EST, but that is still not even half of the DCs necessary ... further, until it's on the publictoolbar - it's just data center updates, not a PR update. One DC could show 5, another 3, another 0 .... and you don't take the average either
My toolbar is showing PR for several of the pages on my newest site. Friday it was 0, today its 3. This is lower than I anticipated. I know pagerank predictors are about as accurate as rolling a die, but they showed predictions of 5, and I had reason to beleive that I could be looking at several thousand new backlinks.
Based on looking at my toolbar, 2/3 of my newest sites that were PR 0 now have a PR 3. The other is still PR 0.
I'm showing either zero at times or the same old pr at other times. Keeps going back and forth. Some of my new sites that should now have pagerank with hundreds of backlinks are still showing zero. I am not convinced this is the update. Definitley some screwy datacenter info though.
Whillst I definately agree with most of the posts above about PR being not steady until its on the toolbar (and even then sketchy sometimes). I have to say that If I do a datacentre check in the middle of a PR update and 4++ dcs come up with a similar PR then you can pretty well much take that as your update. This is especially true for new sites. Older sites can be a bit harder to work out, because if there is a drop, then it may just be crappy dc information. But that is only my experience in watching dcs. Brad
If what we saw Saturday was a PR update, I learned two things, PR perdiction sites are crummy, just like session IDs!!!!!! And the co-op helps get nice PR. All my good PR on new sites came from co-op links.
