Last week a customer emailed me and asked if they could buy wholesale from one of my websites. We agreed the price which came to $3000.00 As soon as the money was transferred to my account I transferred the money to my bank account. Within 24 hours the bank transfer was reversed and account limited Paypal wanted: Pictures of goods and receipts to prove purchase and a tracking number. Now they really think anyone with half a brain is going to send $3000.00 worth of goods to a customer whilst the account is limited, with those funds frozen? no way, so I just refunded the customer and apologized. Within 48 hours limited access is lifted and full account is in working order. So from now I will only accept large payments to my Bank account, regardless or not whether its inconvenient to the customer its better to have a working Paypal account then to not have one at all. If your average sale is say $150 then you get a payment for $3000.00 maybe it flags the account? My advice is to not receive any large payments from customers that are out of the ordinary to your account. Limited access is a sickening feeling!
Thanks, didn't know they could do this. I have sent payments up to round $2500 before without problems but I do have a good volume coming through. Never received more than a few hundred at a time. Will look out for this
That is so wrong, they will loose clients, and the worst is that you cant do your job in the best way you want because of them...
You should have a separate bank account only for Paypal. Get the money into that bank account from Paypal and then move it to another one. This way, Paypal won't have access to it if you are doing a legitimate business.
I've had payments much larger than that happen randomly, most sales are less than $100, and I've never had an issue with PayPal. Account was never suspended, all transactions went through, nothing was ever frozen in my account. I suspect it was something else in your account that triggered it.
It's a good idea on PayPal's part. They're trying to avoid fraud or if someone happens to hack your account to take money.
This is considered as unnormal payment and Paypal will limit your account to ask until it's clear. I think it's a part of paypal security and that's good.
Hey, yeha i dont think that I am unhappy about this. As paypal are service based, they would not want too many bad stories of peoples acocunts being ripped off bouncing around out there. So i think that it good that they do have any eye on what is going on with peoples accounts. I can imagine that it would have been bit a of pain in the ass, but hey thems the breaks, you just have to figure out why they have donre it you i suppose. I have never had any problems with them as yet. But who knows. I would imagine they look at your total history. Not just money coming but also out going as well. Timbor.
had limited account access over a payment of $800 they wanted a ton of details so I sent a bunch of refunds and finally after calling them for 30 days they reviewed my account and gave me full access again. It's good they are trying to be safe but it really screws you up if your dropshipping products
I really don't see anything wrong with what Paypal does. They are just trying to prevent anyone from using their system for money laundering. Like credit card companies, they are usually wary with unusual high ticket transactions. So if you are not doing anything wrong, it should be easily resolved, just send them the proof that they want and problem solve. Make sure that when you use Paypal, your transactions needs to be above-board and documented. Make sure that you have proof of physical delivery, invoices and all the supporting documentations. Otherwise do not use Paypal.
