less and less sites indexed every day

(edit: I ment pages not sites in title sorry)

I started a site less than a month ago, its kinda my first site thats not crap. I think I really did my

homework this time, researched keywords as much as I could (knew), read few things about SEO. I got meta

tags, anchor text within site. I'm submitting to almost every new directory announced on this forum with my

main keywords as anchor text... I'm using Google sitemaps. I was indexed within a week after I started the

site, with 34 pages. Few visitors started rolling in, it was really cool to see how they find me in Google :p
It's not a very competitive niche, I was on page 1 or 2 with most of the keywords/keyphrases I targeted. I

was even ranking #1 for some typo :)

keyword number / rank last week / rank now

    1. 6 > 57
    2. 2 > 3
    3. 6 > 58
    4. 6 > 100+
    5. 8 > 9
    6. 10 > 11
    7. 29 > 36
    8. 40 > 80
    9. 1 > 10 (thats the typo)
    10. 7 > 7

As I said, 34 pages were indexed. 4 or 5 days ago it was 28, yesterday 25, and today's record is 14 pages.

All I did in the meantime was submit the website to more directories, and I even added more content pages.

Last Googlebot visit was 3 days ago, so some new pages should be indexed, but instead I drop more and more

    everyday.

For some terms I did compete before I can't even be found - cause those pages are not indexed now.

Now I read the sandbox faq here, it doesn't even seem my site is sandboxed cause I ranked with some terms

pretty good but now not. But I didn't read anything about pages being dropped from index.

So... is this some kind of sandbox thing? Anything I did - or can do to help with this?

When I do allinanchor: for main keywords i'm on page 2.

One possible thing in my mind is duplicate content penalty, cause I have a lot od product descriptions from

Amazon pages (and Amazon product links). But still, some pages that are 100% unique content dropped from

index, and some with amazon text are still indexed.

    Someone... help
i'll kill myself if this is one more site that won't work

I've had the same problem. I just wonder if directory submission really helps that much, especially the newer ones.

I guess there either ain't any solution for this or the question is too stupid for anyone to bother replying...
I'm stuck with 14 pages indexed now, well at least it won't be less it seems

you should get some backlinks and i mean decent backlinks from directorys or BLOGS. Blogs are awesome when you enter you link in a blog that has a pr over 4 google automaticly picks it up and your sites will get indexed alot quicker!

The entire site was already indexed, but now its not - several pages just just vanish from SERPS every day (last two days is ok though).

And I picked up a very weird niche it's not easy to get good backlinks, unless I want to help my competition also. No blogs about this - and its not something anyone would blog about IMO

Not sure if this is what's happening with your site, but I've seen Google rank a site quite nicely for the first week or two, and then see it drop quite a bit after that. I call it the fresh site hike. The first time I saw this, it really threw me as I hadn't changed anything at all on the site, but right after it happened, I added a fair amount of new content pages, picked up a couple of back links and a fresh site map and the rank started climbing back up. It's almost as though as Google says "Hey, folks, check out this new site and see if it's worth looking at." If it doesn't see new content or back links, it seems to figure that there's not enough there to warrant the debut rank and it drops back down.

Thanks for your info techcrafters - I don't wanna sound ungrateful or anything, right now I would take just about any advice - but I have a problem with indexing and not about not ranking well in SERPs. Ranking for some keypphrases dropped because pages containing that terms are no longer indexed.
*sigh* hopefully I'll get re-indexed again somehow, I just wish I knew the reason why this happened

just sit it out and wait for a while..work on adding good content.

google updated recently, they often update and rollback several times before they complete a full update.

yesterday: 10 pages indexed. I got one new page indexed, adlogger.
Today only index.php and adlogger are indexed.
How long should I sit and wait, there must be something that can be done about this. Can't believe nobody had a similar problem :(

almost everyone has similar problems at some stage. If you are doing everything right, then it might be between tomorrow and never that you start ranking again. In reality, once you know that your site has been index, sit back and wait a week before checking again. In that week add some more content so that there is something new for the SE's to index when they do turn up next time.

Get some links incoming to the content pages in your site and it will help as well.

I'm having a similar problem....I went from having 30 pages indexed in google to now only 2.

I am in countless directories and I have a lot of incoming link. Yahoo and MSN show 300 incoming links....both Yahoo and MSN have my 30+ pages indexed and i've been stuck on 2 in Google for about 3 weeks now.....
