Less ads = higher payout

For the last few days I have tried removing some of the ads from my site. I still have a fair few on there, but for the time being my revenue has gone up. My clicks are worth more and I am even getting around the same amount of clicks.

So my advice to you guys out there would be to try this, remove an ad or two and see if your earnings change in the next few days :)

One question here. Let's say I have 10 page website with 2 ads on each page. So when you say "less ads" does that mean:

    1. I should only display ads on some of the pages for e.g. only on 5 of them

    OR

    2. I should remove one ad from all of the pages?

    Thanks

this is true for me. had double decker ads one on top of another and thought, hey, the more ads the more clicks right? well, i ended up getting less pay per click! now i only have 1 strategic ad per page and my impressions are reduced 30% but CTR is almost double and my revenue went up per click.

Yes, I noticed that same thing too. The more ads you have, the less money you make. Once I had 3 ads in my blog. Then I reduced to only one big block ad, and the clicks increased plus the click value.

I guess google pay more priority on ads with high PPC cost...

    Good advice!
    How sure am I?
For 4 years straight, I have been using only 1 ad block per page.
I have read too many threads just like this, which have convinced me over and over again.

I even go one step further - I only use the 250x250, which serves a maximum of 3 ads (most other formats serve 4 ads).

100% true. But only because it makes the top paying ads appear.

You got it all wrong, buddy. :)

There's nothing wrong in placing lots of AdSense ads. Just make sure that each AdSense ad that you placed has a unique channel. That will make sure that your CTRs will not be affected by some other ads.

Remember folks, use channels to differentiate your AdSense ads.

This is business model of the big G. Top paying ads usually will appear first. Btw, CTRs will not be affected if you remove some ads from your site. Good blending = high CTR.

It depends on what type of site you have. Sites with high new visitor to bookmark visitors ratio do better with more ads.

You are totally confused buddy! :)

He is not talking about tracking money earned through channels. What he is talking about is total money earned per day. The more ads you have on a page the less chance of appearing high paying ads. The less ads you have the more chance of appearing high paying ads. I have tested the methods and it works.

Yeah I wasn't saying this will work for every site and every niche, just that with my entertainment website it has worked really well so far (or it is a coincidence). My revue increased again today so either I have just been lucky or I am getting higher paid ads showing on my site.

Either way it's something to think about for those trying to increase revenue, it seems to have worked for me and many others here so why not try it :)

In my opinion, you need to place the ads strategically. Having more ads do increase the CTR, but do not overdo it such that your site is plagued wih ads.
