So you have a computer without MS office.

I am sure there were a tool somewhere online. Check online through Google to see if there are any word count webmaster tools or something along them lines.

I am sure there will be a tool somewhere on someones website to do this.

He means use "Microsoft Word" software to write then go to "Tools" section of the toolsbar, then select "Words Count" Function. it will tell you how many words, characters, paragraphs and so on. If you dont have Microsoft words....anyone got any other idea?!

You can download OpenOffice which is a free alternative to Word, and this also has a word count tool.

You may want to try Atlantis Word Processor. It is very similar to MS Word but seems more practical for writers. It keeps a running word count tab at the bottom so your current word count is available at a glance.
