Legally Use Images online for free?

    I'm making an NBA website, and most NBA pictures are from Getty Images. I obviously do not want to use those ones, and I don't want to pay.

    Is there a source for free images that I can legally use on my website that actually has NBA photos?

    How can I know if I'm allowed to use a flickr photo?

    You can only use them if the copywrite owner tells you you can. If they don't tell you that then you cannot (its not a case of they have to tell you that you can't)

    If you also promote posters, trading cards, etc., on your site, then you can typically show a picture of the product you are promoting.
