Legality of posting cooking recipes off another site

    Hi all,

I am writing content for a "healthy living" portion of a new site, and the client wants to include some recipes in the content. Nothing extensive, maybe just a dozen or so to give the idea of what a healthy meal might look like.

I suspect I cannot just copy and paste recipes from other sites (even if I give proper credit to the site, as I would surely do) but I was hoping to find some advice if someone knows a way to do so. Thanks!

If the recipes are not copyrighted, then you should be fine.

It would be best to email the admin of the website to check first.

    Thanks for the response, LH-Danny.

I just realized I posted this question before thinking through the answer myself. From an SEO standpoint, I want to avoid the duplicate content that would create. Sorry for posting a thread and then answering it. I hope someone else finds your answer and it helps!

Back to copyright, copyright is implied it doesnt have to say copyright to be copyright. Get an ebook of recipes for pennies at ebay, change a few things so not to duplicate and your good.
