Talk to a lawyer as some suggested. But anytime you put hints of commercial use in the website of the domain name having a trademark, and a fancy word at that like Xerox, Kodak, etc., then expect trouble.
I would totally agree, why tie your domain with a popular brand, no matter what it gives rise to unnecessary troubles and would take up your time and money. Such resources are better used developing your sites.
I had the same issue with ebay couple of years ago. Just abandon these domain names and you will be fine.
If you monetize it in any way (ie: Adsense) then you could run into legal problems. If you can't monetize it then you might as well drop it and forget it. If you don't have one already - one day you will want a PayPal account. Why get on their badside and jeopardize that?

Just keep those emails, then abandon the domain names and forget about it. Or send them a registered letter just to play safe.
