Anyone think that this new website idea will really take off? Will those who illegally download music from P2P programs like Limewire be willing to visit the new ad supported and legit Spiralfrog when it becomes available?
Sorry to bring this thread up .. for anyone who is wondering what it is .. www.spiralfrog.com I think it could possibly, the people behind the idea are rich and I think they'd rather put even more money into it then too see it fail because in the end, if it does take off they'll probably earn alot. I'm debating whether too start up a spiralfrog forum.
I'm not entirely sure, but I think it's like Moola where you have too watch an ad and then you download the music. It'd be stupid too put advertisements actually on the music, that just says 'failure' all over.
Hopefully "Ad-Supported" doesn't mean spyware. This would be great if it actually takes off but I have a feeling it wont, it will either die off or it will just be crappy artists that they offer downloads from.
The song is downloadable. Swordude, it doesn't mean spyware. As for crappy artists, universal have already signed up for it and they have produced some of the best artists in the world.
Well, you never know. You may need to download SpiralFrog software which may have a toolbar or something like that.
If they are going to continue with this, I think it will be a good way to reduce the amount of illegal downloaders. Usually http downloading is faster than p2p and having to click an ad is not more work than finding your song through a p2p program. As long as we do not need to download anything as swordude says, I think this will be a great idea. It may be possible that we need to download a downloader with a lot of crap though...
I'm using Manolito and it fucking rocks. It's ad-supported but the ads don't display for some reason. It runs so fast and has no spyware/adware. Forget Spiralfrog, I'd say use Manolito.
