Legal issues of buying content from digitalpoint?

People are selling databases, pictures, wallpapers, etc at various sections on digitalpoint.

I would like like to purchase some of these items, especially the the wallpapers. But I always feel like I might be buying stolen property. There is no way for me to know if the content seller has legal rights to sell the content.

    How should I proceed?

I think that's a legitimate concern. If you use images that you don't have a license for on your web site, you can be on the hook for thousands of dollars for copyright infringement.

I would the seller what the source of the image or other content is. He should be able to tell you that. I also think it's reasonable to ask about the license or readme files that should be included with every legally sold image. If the seller refuses to give you the license information or tells you they were scraped from google images (which I've seen a seller say here on DP), I'd steer clear.
