Legal Issues and Revenue Sharing

    Hi all,

I've been thinking about a revenue sharing site possibility, but I think the problem I would run into is that a lot of people in the niche might not have an adsense account.

What I had thought was to create an adsense channel per author, and split page revenue monthly myself. (Or at least have a software program to do it.)

What are the possible legal issues with doing this, and is this really more trouble than it is worth?

    thanks,

You'll end up writing $1.41 cheques etc. If you want a massive accounting pain in the you-know-where then yeah, great idea. Far easier is to award an Amazon gift certificate per N posts.

If you have a minimum $50 payout as most affiliate programmes have you can probably avoid that situation.

True, but then you;d need a HUGE forum to ever reach that with only a small number of members. That would be like a dangling carrot they can't reach IMO.

Or deal with PayPal or similar and have a certain extra percentage lost to fees.

I know there would need to be a limit below which I would wait until the next period. Although this would definitely lead to some programming nightmares.

I agree it would be a big hassle that wouldn't be worthwhile. Why can't you just give them a link to signup? It's obviously a pretty simple process judging by some of the morons that come on here complaining that their account has been banned.

Can they sign up using a website that isn't directly theirs? I have a feeling the target niche may not be entirely web savvy as far as creating a website.

No, they'd need a half-decent website. A blog with a few original posts would do.

Your PayPal idea isn't too bad though, especially if you can automate it. Download AdSense stats in csv, run it through a wringer script that sends applicable PayPal payment and you're done. Sending money doesn't cost anything anyway.
