Good Day People! I am new here and would like to know a small peice of infomation, a peer of mine has a very wrong (imo) view on the legal age to make money by working for yourself. the money i currently earn is around about 7k a month (a nice tidy sum at that!), I get the money via paypal and it is then sent to my bank account. (okey I know I should of really been over 18 for Paypals ToS but its so widly used, I needed it.
is there an age-limit?? there is a limit for the age for paypal n that, and a legal age at what you can legally work, but im not sure if there is any law that says you cant make money @ this age.
I think the legal age is different in every country, you should ask this question to your local authorities. Just curious, how old you are?
I don't know about your country but in India one cannot hire a child under 14 and children under 18 are not allowed to handle financial transactions themselves. A parent or local guardian must be involved. This is to prevent you and the buyer from getting into troubles. Same goes for paypal I think . I suggest you involve a guardian Regards Jeet
At least here in the US, it is not a matter of how old you have to be to "earn money". You can "earn money" at any age. There are no laws about that. There are laws about "working", however they have to do with types of jobs, hours, pay, etc. and they outline restrictions mainly for employers. However, you legally cannot enter into contracts, and if you do, they are not binding, unless you are 18. What is interesting is if there is any kind of problem, dispute, etc. with any of your customers, you will be "protected" since you cannot enter into a legal contract, however, the burden will then fall to your parent(s) or guardian(s). I've been making money via Paypal since I was 13. I wasn't going to stop just because some law said I wasn't allowed to. You obviously need a credit card from someone over 18 to verify with Paypal. I've only had 1 point where my age held me back for a week, when I needed to fax my passport to Paypal, but I just used a parents passport -they didn't notice at all. I *think* it's legal to make money at any age. For example, I found out once that it was legal to buy and sell on eBay at my age, so long as someone over 18 was present, watching the transaction at all times (or something like that). I've never heard of anyone being sanctioned because they're too young to make money. So long as you're not doing anything illegal, you should be fine. As far as contract law goes, you're not legally allowed to enter a binding contract if you're under 18. However, I'm a member to my gym, I'm bound by contract to pay $100/month, but I am under 18 - so what the hell
in the uk you must be atleast 13+ before you can legally be hired for part time work. however for jobs like baby-sitting, dog-walking etc there is no age limit becos these are not classed as proper jobs (altho u get paid), if making money online comes into this category then there is no age limit.
If you want to keep making money I wouldn't be broadcasting that all over a public board. Paypal is notorious for freezing & reposessing people's funds when they break the ToS.
there isnt a legal age of earning money, theres a legal age for working though, however if your working for yourself or for a family member then you or the family mmeber are going to make sure the child isnt overworked so nobody will get in social services or take you to court, and i think if the child is over 12 then they can work about 6 hours a week anyway in the UK something daft like that, i thiknk the law is to make sure the child isnt being used for slave labour or anything like that, but if your on here asking the question for his or her benefit then i dont think you have anything to worry about
Well you need paypal, and for that oyu need to be 18 but you can get your parent or guardian to sign up... Thats what I did and i have been earning money since i was underage.
