Well, I appreciate the feedback folks, but it comes down to this. No one has been banned from CJ since I started promoting this method out back in June of 2007. Not one. You guys are entitled to your opinions and interpretations of the TOS, but when it comes down to it, CJ isn't doing anything to stop this promotional method and neither is eBay. Everyone is making money, so no one is complaining The folks who are afraid to try something that actually works, are the same people who are struggling to make a decent dollar online. The ones who TAKE CHANCES, are the ones who succeed. I like to take chances and risks. It's what business is all about. Oh and not to mention, I really like the commission checks I still get each month from CJ.com To each his own
Hello, Yes it is a good idea in number 3 above, also this software it looks easy to use, I was lost inside the Craig's List website There is also other ways around. what about using Amazon, or another web sites like ebay
Ebay does not own craigslist. They own 25% of craigslist. Big difference. http://www.craigslist.org/about/press/ebay.stake.html IMHO, as long as its not widespread enough for craigslist users to feel they are being spammed by ebay, ebay will probably look the other way on the TOS violation (they're making more money off this than the affiliates anyway). For ebay, its going to be a question of whether the money they make via these means outweighs any bad PR. I do feel however that that tipping point will come.
Wonder how the new in-house Ebay affiliate program will affect Craigslist marketing? I would imagine things will be more strict...
Couldn't you get around the tos questions or issues by putting a link to a BANS site in your emails instead of directly to eBay? Just a thought. Alan
anarmyofme: I agree, I wonder exactly how things would change, I'm sure they'll catch it definitely then.
I'd like to know the answer to this too. thx [any possibility of this being a cross-platform or mac/linux compatible app ? if not, guess i need to fix my old win-pc gathering dust. ]
I am with the above statement and questions, imagine if 100s of people were emailing the same people with the same email, they will get angry and sick of the emails (repetitive emails), OK so you say we will only sell up to 1000 - but that just means in 6 months you wont have a need to update the software and it will become outdated - why would you update software that you no longer provide ? And the fact you say we've cloaked the address, not once but several times, is admitting that there may be issues, all you've done is made the tracking harder. I f there were no concerns or issues to worry about then you wouldn't need to cloak the URL in the first place.
Since all the links are getting clocked, how do we know that we our links is getting tracked and not the owners....?
I disagree with both of these statements. I do not find 3.0 to be buggy at all and have new stores making money in just a few days.
Y not get the best of both BANS and this software. If someone requests an item on craigslist then you know there is market and demand for that product. what you can do is create a generic bans store, use the software to gather the list of items wanted from craigslist and the emails. Then you can create categories on your BANS site for the items in demand and then e-mail the people links to your BANS site. as time goes by, you will be building on your BANS and I'm also sure there will be repeat requests in which case you will already have the link.
Does anybopdy have the answer to this.. How do we know are affiliate links are showing/being used and not theirs?
Hey Steve, I want to try the demo. I opted in and confirmed my email address but never got anything else from you. I used to do the same thing with a program called Craigslist Assistant (defunct now). I did it for about a year and could never really "cash in" on the big ticket items. Most of my affiliate sales were under $5-$10 and the commission was small. Of course, all it takes is that 1 big sale for a nice commission!
So what's the bottom line on this "method" and ePN? Has anyone been banned from ePN for using this or even doing it manually?
No, but they will be banned. All it takes is one pissed off recipient with an inbox full of the same emails.
