I made a few mistakes so far and had to correct them. I had to basically change my mindset. Money will follow. I need to do it - not just talk about it. It happens over time - not right NOW. I need to be persistent - not giving up. I have to focus on one thing - not changing strategies and direction as a leave in the wind. I can find another way (which often is better) - not get upset that this one way did not work. I need to overlook an offense - not bear a grudge. I need to get up again - not stay discouraged. I need to be patient with myself - not put myself under constant pressure. I need to keep the goal in mind - not the many mishaps. I need to KOKO (keep on keeping on).
It all can be put into 2 words: Knowledge and Action. This is the formula. It however is not a guaranteed way to make a penny, that's the way it goes, for someone it will work and for others it won't.
I quit my job when I was able to duplicate my results for 6 months straight. I did it as a copywriter and not as an affiliate marketer. As a copywriter I was able to gain the trust of several clients who send me steady work and rely on me to keep their websites updated with fresh content. After six months of promoting myself, I had to quit my day job to take on bigger and better projects. It was a HUGE risk and I was scared out of my mind. But...I set my objectives and learned to live in the realty I wanted no matter what my physical senses were telling me.
The secret is finding something that works and continuing with it, whether finding untapped niches, and harnessing the traffic via article submission, or blog commenting, or building a large client base with web 2.0 traffic
I quited from my job before I have settled my income outside the office, but it's fine until now It's just about what's your believe My suggestion is: you don't have to wait until you have enough income replaced your salary. All you have to do is have enough saving amount to cover your 3 months living expenses and focus on your skills and niche. You'll never get ready when you're still on your comfort seat in the office
Marketing is just that marketing. Selling of tangible goods to some other person or entity. Building up a business and the techniques takes time and effort. There is a sharp learning curve and it wont happen overnight, usually; unless of course if you are MS and happen to land IBM. that story is classic in the right place at the right time, and sometimes that is what it takes. And of course is the fluctuation due to the changing market and the ahem .. lack of work from the proprietor. Its hard to get paid for not working the business.
I did not quit my job as soon as possible when I started. It's not something you have to easily gamble your 9-5 job for a job on the net. It's more like a passion for me that became my business as well. I only quit my job when I was earning 3x what I'm earning including a bonus working from home and watch my daughter grow. Plan it, don't just jump into it. Start doing freelance job, try oDesk...from there look for avenues, opportunities etc...don't be in a hurry...
Set small goals to accomplish. Make sure they are attainable. Keep working at it as hard as you can. Do not get discouraged. Use the set backs that happen as motivation to do better.
