Do you think it is OK to leave the Blog Title as a name on comments?

A lot of people have the habit of leaving their blog names on the field "Name" of comment sections. I am not necessarily against it (in fact when I started bloggingit I used to do it because I thought it would generate more traffic) but sometimes it sound like you are just commenting to promote your stuff and not to participate on the conversation. Secondly blogs are about relationships, therefore leaving names and not blog titles should establish a more personal connection.

Anyway what do you guys think?

    Good points there!
I don't leave blog name while commenting on other blogs, people would feel that you are spamming if you leave the blog name or so..Just my opinion.

I feel that using your blogs name is spamming. You already have a link to your site.

I usually leave my name with my blog name in parenthesis, i.e.,

    Name (Blog Name)

I usually leave my name or the name I go by on my blog.

For example, I have a sports blog called Coach Levi, so I leave comments with "Levi" as the name. But I also have an internet marketing blog where I post under the alias "Sucker." So I use "Sucker" as the name when I leave comments on other business/marketing blogs.

IMO, it looks a bit more spammy to use your blog name as opposed to some variety of name / pseudonym. However, I think the main thing I would watch for is whether you were posting substantive comments. If it seemed like you made a "me too" kind of post, just to get your blog name seen, then I'd agree about it being spam. If your comment is relevant and well thought out, then it doesn't matter to me one way or the other.

it looks like most people posting a reply agree that one should leave his name or nick name and not blog name, but the poll result is saying the opposite... strange

I think leaving your name with your comment is a good idea. It can work on your "image" (if that makes sense). But also, the comments need to be insightful (not short and pointless, looks spammy like someone stated). It can also help you with PR (if you can leave your domain behind) and traffic, it just needs to be done right ;)

I leave my name when I post a comment for the first time. When it's a blog where I comment regularily, I don't let my name, since the owner already knows me.

I sometimes do the old 'leave your anchor text in the name field' trick myself. I'd never dream of doing it on one of my regular blog visits, but if I'm searching for new blogs in my niche I don't have an issue with doing it. I have a strict policy on leaving comments - I'd only ever leave a comment that was well constructed, several lines long and of relevance. If I couldn't do that I'd move to different blog to comment instead.

well I used to leave "budlight" in my blog posts, then my site began to rank for terms around budlight. So i quit doing that and started using anchor text.
