Leaving GoDaddy. What is the best & cheapest registrar?

I'm looking at NameCheap, but can't really gather much info from their site. I am DONE with GoDaddy. I only stayed with them because they were cheap, but all my domains except the newer ones are coming up for renewal within the next two months, so I want to get out now. I am tight on money, so if there is a good registrar that will give me a great price to transfer less than 10 domains (I have 6), I'd love to know. I've seen offers of 50 cent transfers, but I've heard those are very hard to transfer back out of if you aren't happy with it. NameCheap seems to have a good reputation.

Better go with ResellerClub, if you want peace, security and safety for domains.
    Good luck.

I'll have to check both of those out. Right now, I'm using 1&1, which is all right for domains, but I would never host with them, as I've heard horror stories about their customer service!

Namecheap has a superb customer service. Have been with them and Goddady for the last 7 years. I have never had a problem with Namecheap, somethimes they have coupons for transfers, right now it is SWITCH2NC.
As with anything in life I wouldn't go for the cheaper offer.
    Good luck!

NameSilo is decent and cheaper than NameCheap, although the latter is also good.

Any provider offering especially a .com for less than $8 is doing so at a loss, so that has strings attached somewhere.

Thanks, everyone. After chatting with a very helpful person at Namecheap, and having a lot of people here and elsewhere recommend them, I'm going with them. They have a great GoDaddy transfer coupon for only $5.99, and free privacy the first year, so even with ICANN fees, less than $40 for all 6. Plus their new term doesn't start until the date my old domain expires, so that will let me transfer the ones expiring in April too. They sound really good, so that's where I'm going to go.

I use both Godaddy and Namecheap. I mainly use Godaaddy, however I think I am planning to leave Godaddy, as their support is pretty much useless.

Godaddy is still the best choice out of the rest competitors, maybe you can consider name.com instead of Namecheap.

namecheap, but godaddy is probably the best one. You also check webhost alot of them have been started to register domain names as well.

    Tried
namecheap(cheapest one I saw out there)
    networksolutions

    Not Tried
    domain
    123-regco
    namesco

    Hope this helps

Go with Namecheap. I have used them for over a dozen domains in the past and have had nothing but a good experience with them. They also provide free WHOIS Guard with domains which is a nice touch considering some other domain registrars will charge you $8/9 for it.

Thanks for this namecheap suggestion. I'm using godaddy to purchase domains and ipage as my hosting company. ipage has a great support and it's cheap and perfect for hosting. I have also several domains at godaddy where I'll move them to namecheap. Godaddy makes promotions from time to time for .com for as low as 3$.
Does namecheap offers promotions from time to time? This is very good if namecheap offered you domain privacy for free.
