Minstrel.... Always the critic huh? :)
Problem is as usual, you are correct. I believe I mean did "mano a mano".
I utilized the term rather loosely. I have only heard it used casually and assumed it to mean "one on one" or maybe "man to man". In the future I will try to stick to my crude version of Americanized English.

Nothing like a public reprimand to set a guy straight.

Is the COOP officially broken? I've been out for a month now and just tried re-adding one of my sites, still says I have weight 34-50 with a site that is pr4 and 14k pages indexed. Used to be atleast 10,000+ weight.

Did the system change (inflation anyone..)? Or is it broken?

Some of my sites have hyphens in their names, others dont. Same problem on all sites though.

No, Google is Officially broken, and the co-op depends on something that's broken.

That's absolutely correct: If Google is broken (and there's no longer any doubt whatsoever about that), then so is the Coop. There's no way to avoid that reality.

But that's not the scary part. The really scary part is Nintendo is starting to make sense.

No. When compar was ranting about it, Google wasn't broken. There's no way in hell it's not broken now. Even Google is partially admitting that!

You got to give him credit, he was the first one claiming it!

Broken is a bad word, flawed is a better word, Google has had problems since 2003, but I don't really want to get into it, that is all history, I am hoping they can combat the spammers, I was one of the first to fight them on this issue, much of it is their own fault but I am pulling for them!

OK, he was not the first one claiming it, I was claiming it before he was ;)

But I want it to end Minstrel, I have seen bad results for at least 3 years in some keywords, what happened and what is still happening is bad, I want to see it end for sure!

    Who doesn't?

Time for all concerned citizens to join the Matt-Cutts-Pirate-Bitch-Slapping Party and force these clowns to either fix the mess or roll it back to pre-Big Daddy.

And who the hell chose the name Big Daddy anyway? More like Big Muddy or Big Cruddy!

There are other options, maybe they are screwing with PR just to throw a wrench in link selling and things like the co-op.

The growth of the web and the hyper growth in scraper pages has hurt them, they don't have the capacity to index 1,000 times the pages than they should have to that are original concepts and content, scraper and duplicate content webmasters have screwed them up big time!

What needs to be done is to recognize original content by the published date and push down all those who use the material after the first recognition of the original to combat content thieves.

In addition if a webmaster is found to have a large percentage of duplicate content all of those URL's should be banned from the search index quickly!

I've had lots of problems with spammers scraping text from my site to use in cloaking for their junk like this. It drives me nuts. I wish Google would do something about it. Spammers like this need to be eliminated from the Internet.

The thing is when they scrape my content they don't scrape the whole article. They take just enough of it to compile with other people's scraped content to make search engine fodder and then cloak the page and feed real people a page full of ads. Since only small snips of my pages are taken I can't really claim copyright infringement.

Sometimes these scraper sites turn the scrappings into directory pages with links to the page in question so that they look like legitimate directory indexes, only they have goofy URLs like http://3896.r6a249.info/. What kind of crap is this?

It would help, but needs to be done carefully. I've had lots of problems with zero day content theft as of late. Litterally two of the last three articles I published were copied to other people's websites within a day of the articles originally being posted. I got both copies removed, within a few days of them being posted but if I hadn't found them and Google indexed the copy first, I could end up being the one swatted if there weren't protective measures in place.

Forget just banning them from search indexes. I want web hosts to take a zero tolerance to this kind of crap and start shutting down accounts of people who steal other people's content. This bit about simply getting the offending article removed is useless. What is the risk of stealing content if the worst that is realistically going to happen is you are going to have to remove the article or it might not get indexed by search engines? This is a joke. There must be real consequences and it shouldn't cost us a fortune up front see justice served.

Web Hosts will do that if you can prove DMCA violations, use www.copyscape.com to find them Ken.

Second, they are scraping forums like this one and the SERP pages from search engines, so duplicate content is created by taking content from everyone, not just your sites!

Oh I use Copyscape and GoogleAlert. I've gotten to the point where I have a copyscape banner at the top of my pages and a link to the DMCA at the bottom of my pages with three lines of copyright notices. This won't stop site scrapers, but it leaves little room for claims of an innocent mistake by people copying my articles to their blogs, etc.

I now register my articles with the U.S. Copyright office so that I can be prepared to sue offenders into oblivion if necessary. I'm fed up with all the ways people try to rip off other people's work.

Something has to be done to stop this crap.

Read the above again that I posted in #111

That is what needs to be done Ken!

I think I read that somewhere in these threads in the past couple hours and commented on it elsewhere. I'm afraid it is way past my bed time and my brain isn't functioning so hot now.

I'm also only on page 14 of that 38 page thread you sent me via PM. I got a feeling by the time I get to page 38 it will be on page 48.

Since my brain is now jello with all this reading, I think I'll go to bed and continue this fun in the morning.
