I always leave my laptop and my desktops on, the only time they get restarted is if that automatic update from windows decides to do it, but other than that, leave it on baby!
I haven't shut down my computer for about 3 weeks now. I rarely shut it down. It's always on. I just turn off the monitor. - Prilep
Mine runs 24/7. Most of my heavy updates, and backups of my sites are programmed to run/download at night while I am asleep. That way I can keep it running fast when I am actually on it, instead of bogging it down. Tina
I leave my computers on all the time. Turning them on/off is actually worse than leaving them on. Most devices not have Energy Saver features, so they sleep and use little to no electricity, and again, it is better for them to be on than cold starting them over and over. However, if you are going to cook something and be away from the stove for 10 minutes or more on your computer, turn the stove OFF!!!
I leave the computer on. I only turn off the computer at night and when there are lightning storms in the area.
if it's only for 10 moniute mostly i will leave it on. but most of the time when I leave the room to go out i will turn the screen off.
I always leave my Pc on even when I go out, not sure why it must be the exhaustion of pressing the button to turn it back on puts me off, he he
I put the omcputer on at 12.00 in the noon and it goes off around 24.00 in the eve. Tho I do not constantly work on it it is on 12 hours a day.
If I plan on going back on the computer soon then I keep it on, otherwise I shut the computer and monitor off. As for watching a TV show, I have a TV tuner/FM card so I don't need to have the regular TV on. P.S. For those of you that keep your computer on all the time I hope you have a firewall. The longer you stay connected to the internet, hackers will have more time to get in your computer. Have you done windows update lately.. ?
I hear that. I let mine go into power save mode when I'm not downloading anything, but I never turn it off. I've owned my newest laptop for 9 months, and in that time it's probably been turned off for less than 12 hours. Memory should not go bad if your computer is turned on for a few days straight. If it does, you've got crappy memory. One thing I do consider before buying a new computer is heat output. Some computers/processors tend to run hot. It's best to avoid these if you plan on running your computer all the time, as heat will damage various parts over time. My old desktop had a AMD Athlon processor that was also a decent space heater. One day it melted the processor fan until it jammed on its bearing. Without the fan running, the heat built up until the fan melted off. The mobo had to be replaced after than incident (2 weeks before the warranty ran out, eat it Gateway!).
