When you know you're going to cook something or watch a show or be away from your computer for longer than 10 minutes, do you leave it on or turn it off?

I leave it on too, the monitor powers off after 10 minutes, but the computer stays on all the time except for the occasional reboot.

The money i would save by turning it off would be minimal, I suppose i should be looking at it from an environmental point of view.

I always turned my computer off when I went to work in the morning for the last 9 months. But for the last two weeks, I was going to remotely connect to it during the day, so I left it running. Now, one of my ram sticks have failed!

9 months, no problem. Leave it on 24/7 for a few days and memory goes bad! Coincidence?

I make my computer work when I sleep also. I have updates scheduled as well as a full backup every 2 days in the wee hours of the morning. There is a cool program called automouse, if you're smart you can make it do some pretty neat stuff while you sleep.,

time=money and computer=money so time=computer, why waste it when you sleep?

Me too , after a while it idles anyways, so no point in turning it off and I hate having to log back in to everything - plus I keep forgetting passwords:p
