Some sites just do not do well at all with affiliate programs...such as video sites (which I know as a fact) and probably flash game sites, too.

As long as you avoid clutter. Yet I do it myself :D

Obviously there are exceptions however you can still find game related affiliate programs that should convert quite well. In fact people, including myself make a lot of money with Youtube traffic and affiliate marketing.

You're right, affiliate programs could be a gold mine.
However for some sites AdSense still perform well enough.

What the blog? It has both. Adsense will go away soon when I find some time. Its just convenient when you are too busy to do anything with the space.

Don't get me wrong. I've been using Adsense myself for many years. Its just in most cases you can do better with affiliate.

Hmm now why did I think it's frowned upon to self promote yourself in forum posts??

    Ahh because it is!!!!!!!!!!!

In my eyes if you have to resort to dropping your blog and methods into a forum... then you're probably making just enough to cover a deposit on a postage stamp....

Hmmmm... I wrote a blog post and wanted to start a discussion. Why not?

    1) I am contributing to dp
    2) I am having a reasonable discussion
    3) I might get an extra blog reader which is always good
    4) I did not do this for the soul purpose of dropping the link. At the end of the day I have more than 50.000 of them. Why would I need a useless forum link.

Finally get your facts straight before you start accusing me. I have been a member here for many years. I have posted a number of screenshots with my earnings, sold a number of websites for x.xxx, sold a whole bunch of ebooks I have written myself and helped tons of people earn more money. Its none of your business how much money I earn anyway.

Ask the mods and owners...I have no ideas what their reasons are.

Thats why there are signature links. ;)

Did I ask how much you made???? NO

I made a statement as to how things appeared to me....

    Opine as it is known....

    In closing

"me thinketh thou protesteth to much"
    Shakespeare

In other words "If you're not guilty no reason to go ballistic ...." ;)

    Peace

Everyone is doing it. I can't see anything wrong with posting a link. And its in the signature already.

Yea, I just don't like inaccurate remarks towards me.

    No beef...

You can't speak generally. It depends on what your doing, your niche, you targeted viewer, your content in general. Don't just switch. Think about it and then implement what ever you think would lead to more $$$.

The problem with affiliate marketing is that people have to sign up and pay money in order for you to make money. A lot of audiences simply don't do that with advertisements.

If you are stuck with a niche market that breeds cheats and theives affiliates do not pay off. I have caught big affiliates ripping me off red handed, and when you catch them they could care less. If I could find honest ones which actually pay for all the sales you produce I would be happy to leave AdSense.
