If you are completely new to languages, then it would be better to learn it in some institute. :)

Before looking at W3Schools, look at this site.

As far as learning PHP, first learn programming Use Algorithms + Data Structures.pdf for that. Learning a programming language without knowing programming is like learning "saw" to build a house. You still have no idea what to do with the saw you know how to use.

There are far too many websites written by people who know language syntax, but have no clue of what to do with the language. To be very kind to sites like that, they're crap.

What's the difference how hard it is to learn the wrong way of doing things? Why would anyone WANT to learn that?

As far as it being an explanation for every command, that's exactly what you want a language reference to be. (You're not seriously suggesting that someone learn programming by learning PHP, are you? That's like learning brain surgery by learning how to make scalpels.)

So you want to learn PHP and want some advice.

Why? What's the end goal? What was the thought process that led up to this desire? How strongly motivated are you? How much time and money can you spend to achieve this? Are you serious? What have you done up to now to accomplish this?

Or, are you just doing casual research?

With a little more insight we (the forum members) can suggest a more specific course of action beyond generalities.

    So lets hear it...

Yes if we are talking about the basics than the best definition will be, PHP is a programming language and used for the programming and web developing. It’s easy to understand and apply and provide you the same results as others languages. The best feature is the convenience in understanding and it is not complex like other languages.

Well learning PHP is a good idea but if you want a much more attractive future in terms of return then try to learn Java but if you are weak in programming concept then PHP is ok, so you can find different stuff through internet but lynda.com and w3school are the perfect places to learn about it. A tuture may also help you to learn quickly.

Learning php in a institute or self through interne depends on how much you know about scripts, programming or IT. It is better to learn it in a institute if you are a new bie. Or you cannot master it well. Also, there is something called php code genetator that can enable fresh programmers to get CRUD scripts quickly. You can google a free one to have a try.

I found tizag.com to be the most helpful place when I started learning. The best way to learn is to do though, practice makes perfect.

The video tutorials from Linda dot com can be a good place to learn php. But strong determination is necessary as well.
