    Just read tutorials.

    You don't need an ebook, just search google for PHP tutorials and you'll be able to find a tutorial with example code to play with and modify.

    Sites that help? I reckon the manual is probably the most helpful, but the w3 schools php tutorials are also good resource.

    Install XAMPP so you can run PHP / mySQL scripts on your local PC, and start plugging away at tutorials.
