Currently, learning on how to play poker. Would like to find out if anyone knows of any good sites where one can learn about poker. Also if anyone has any word documents or PDF's in respect to playing ' hold'em ' then I would love to find out where you got them, or a copy emailed to me. Again, thank you in advance.

two of a kind beats high card. A-K sucks. Playing suited connectors is smart, playing unsuited connectors is stupid. That's all you need to know :p

Actually - Its highly recommended that you just play.
    For play money that is.
Download PartyPoker or Pokerroom and use their beginner rooms/play money tables - and just play.

Once you understand the basics - ie two hole cards - a flop - a turn - a river...then it will be easier to start working on strategy. And then read SuperSystem.
    :)

Thank you. I have been going to a local casino and watching the locals play the £20 texas hold em re-buy tournament, and some of the cards being played are weak, yet they win. This is all confusing. Is there are chart which shows the right cards to play etc?

poker is a lot of dumb luck. Any hand dealt to you can win. You are just playing the odds. You are more likely to win with a pair of aces than a 2-3 offsuit. That's all. Very little skill is actually required. More guts than anything else (bluffing, etc).

I'd download an odds calculator and play with it if you are really curious:

Simple math will tell you all you need to know though. Probably/statistics.
