Adwords seems to be more complicated to work with compared to yahoo search marketing. However on amazon, i have seen a number of books on adwords. Are these books really necessary to get a better understanding of adwords or can one manage without those books just by using the interface?
First of all read their Help Center and watch the Learning Center They will help you A LOT. If you want to go deeper, then I would recommend reading Adwords Miracle, Beating Adwords & Google Money Pro. If you require any of those ebooks, PM me.
Learn Adwords from learning center.. if you need more insights into Adwords Learning Center you could visit this link
First do not buy an ebook to learn adwords, they're all crap and outdated the minute they come out. Anyone recommending one is just trying to sell you one to make a commission...LOL Second, their learning center provides everything you need to learn it right, but if you're looking for a short cut, I'll save you the time and save you wasting your money, there isn't one.
I have to disagree with you on that unless of course "you have read them all" I have read Beating adwords and can tell you that it will explain things in detail that google learning center tends to gloss over for example: does the google learning center explain the importance of "Turning off content network" so as not to run up a huge adspend and quickly use up your daily budget Does Google explain how those clicks (from content network) are usually very untargeted and will seldom convert Does google explain in great detail how to optomize a landingpage/minisite so as to get a great quality score You might say yes, but I'll tell you they don't! and they leave you scratching your head with uncerainty Oh and you'll notice that I did not include an affiliate URL to Beating Adwords so I'm not in it for the commission
I think at this time, i will depend on the multimedia lessons on the learning centre as i find them useful. I was however tempted to buy the dummies guide to adwords and now i won't.
Google's help is basic, they explain you how everything works, so I would recommend to learn that first and after move on to ebooks to find some nice techniques.
