I wrote it after reading the post of one of the DP members that only 6% of his link exchange emails ever get a reply.

 

Well in the email world 6% really is realistic if you are blasting really non-specific sites. Heck if I got 6% on my newsletter campaigns I would be really happy. But that is neither here nor there.

The tips you give layout a very nice seamless way to get more links. Which everyone wants.

When I first started I used to ring other sites and ask for link exchange.
Yours was a considerate well written article.
Balanced.
Whilst nothing novel it was very helpful to some readers

 

Whether you should email or phone would also depend on your website topic, if you are an insurance company then sure it would be better to ring, but if you are about Naruto (a cartoon) the website owners would probably prefer email.

I don't see much direct traffic from the link exchanges (100s per day), most of the traffic comes from the search engine rankings I gain from the exchanges (12,000 per day).
