I don't have a dog or cat,but I do have a turtle that goes by the name "Leonard".Now I admit that Leonard is not much of a conversationalist,but he's a damn fine listener.

 

Do you have a picture of Leonard?

 

It kind of looks like a St. Bernard to me as I've seen more of those. I just assumed that Hooch was a St. Bernard. They seem somewhat similar so I think that's why people mistake the two that aren't very familiar with those breeds.

 

Actually I don't,can't seem to get him out of his shell long enough to snap a shot.

 

Well, St. Bernard is a Mastiff as well, so they share some common traits of the breed with the other Mastiffs (Like the size).
But if you are Dog person, you will never mistake a St. Bernard with an English Mastiff and vice versa.

An easy way to tell the difference is St. Bernards generally carry small barrels of brandy around their necks. Mastiffs do not.

 

Oh I see, it's mainly in the coloring and length of the hair. I thought maybe there was a coloring difference, but I didn't know about the hair length difference.

I'm a dog person, just not one that knows certain breeds. So I guess I'm not an actual "Dog Person," but I'm all about dogs rather than cats and have 3 dogs, a chocolate lab, a yellow lab, and a half blue heeler and half timberwolf (not aggressive and very intelligent). I'm wanting to get a short haired German Sheppard as they're my favorite; just never had one.

 

There is nothing like an 'actual' dog person.. It's just a dog person interested in specific breeds..
For example I'm fond of large breed dogs so I know most of them, but if you talk about small breeds I'd have no clue for the most parts..
