Hello, Just stumbled upon leapfish.com as i wanted to see how much directorysurf.com domain was worth (got a thread open for same too but single reply only ). So did google search and found leap. For site : www.h-log.com i get $5,221 with score of 227 and for site www.sbclansite.com $2,268 with score of 84 Now i wonder how reliable can that be or shall i use godaddys appraisal thing? Any other site thats reliable and does nice free appraisals ?
Not reliable at all. Unfortunately, all automatic valuations are of poor quality because the process is very subjective aside from few standard cases (e.g. 2-3 letter .com, 2 letter-number .com, etc.) It's just a gimmick to attract visitors to the site and upsell additional services.
Automatic appraisals are gimmicks. Human valuations depend on the experience of the appraiser. But even then, don't think for a moment that the number is set in stone. A better way of looking at this as a range. From my experience, there are only 8 +/- of them (approx): 1). Reg fee ($0 to $50) 2). Cheap ($50 to $200) 3). Low cost ($300 to $700) 4). Medium ($700 to $2000) 5). Medium-High ($2K - 10K) 6). High ($10-25K) 7). Premium ($25K-100K) 8). Rare ($100K and above) The key is to know your range, and then try to negotiate the best price. Ultimately, the price depends on the buyer's perception. It's an old adage, but very true.
So what does your experience says about values for domains: directorysurf.com h-log.com sbclansite.com ?? which category(out of the 8) you think they belong to ? Plus Reg Free costs 50$ ? I thought max price was maybe like 30 $ for new domain as max price for registration.
Reg fee at most. From my experience, the three easiest categories to sell are: 2). Cheap (i.e. an OK domain and buyers are not afraid of risking $50-200 bucks) 6). High 7). Premium For the latter two (high & premium), you're dealing with buyers that have plenty of cash, and can easily write a check for that amount.
