What's the best way you can advise to mitigate bogus form information? I've implemented a B2B content strategy offering a "premium" content download in exchange for information including an email address. The lead-gen apparatus is a lightbox form filled out in exchange for the content. The problem I'm having is that about 30% of those who fill out the form are giving me bad info. Basically they don't seem to want to give out their personal info but want the download. This has upper management in a tizzy and they demand we do something about it. While I'm prepared to examine ways of mitigating "form abuse" by improving the content offering's targeting and experimenting with requirements in the form itself .... However, I don't believe you can stop 'form abuse' in a lead-gen content campaign such as this. We may be able to mitigate but never stop. At the same time, I'm implemented SEO, improving traffic and ranking on Google as well as raising the company profile vs competitors. The result is, even if I can achieve a decrease in the percent of 'form abuse', we'll get a net increase in total bogus downloads as a consequence of me doing my job.
Hi, I think one way to reduce the percentages of false information is to use some dual op-tin. Also there will be people who will give you false information, but perhaps with it the you reduce a little. Greetings
I agree with the previous post. Maybe you should make them double opt in for the information. What about emailing them the link to the download? Then that way if they really want the download, they will provide you with a real email address in order to get it.
