LCD or LED what is the best for designing purpose ?

IPS is the best, and you might want to calibrate it...

Same question here,
one of my friends who is a graphic designer wasn't satisfied with lcd monitor either. and he claimed that visions like "gradients" are shown very bad..
so, if the lcd and led monitors are the same, would it be better to stick with the CRT's for designing ?

A decent IPS+LED displays perfect gradients. My Fujitsy P23T-6 IPS does.

note that either the reviewer had a bad screen or I have a good one, because I can identify white level 254 easilly.

I think you also should consider other technical differences besides LED and LCD.
