Can anyone tell me why my layout has gone whacko in windows 98 Try this link: http://www.findmyinn.com/listman/listings/l0196.html You will see that there is NO WORD WRAP The site uses LISTMAN as the backend Can anyone help to resolve this? Thanks
The site is about 1 mile wide on my old windows 98 machine but fine on my windows XP pro laptop. On the win98 machine each field regardless of the lenght in shown as one long single line. Any ideas? Dcristo - are you viewing it in win98?
Hey fryman, That Corona bottle you holdin' up. You would not want to know what goes in that bottle! I know it tastes pretty good. You should see how they make that beer though! errrggg
errrr......NO If it looks fine on your XP machine I imagine your win98 machine is using an old version of IE? Since yor site is using CSS, this could be throwing the older browser on your caveman machine Hope this helps
Thanks for the helpful comment regarding IE version I am using IE 6.0.2800 could this be the problem what is the latest? ver 7? PS I know Win98 is considered a vintage OS by you guys, but there are still many users, not everyone jumps when MS says jump. I kept my last car for 12 years because it still got me from A to B and while this old computer can still write letters, send emails etc I will continue to use it. Not everyone has money to burn on the latest and greatest technology released every year. But hey if my OS gives you a good laugh them I am happy to make your day for you. Wait till you hear what mobile/cellphone I am using!
I thought it would have been a browser issue too, but IE6 should work fine. You dont need XP... but you should at least upgrade to Win2k (with all the latest updates) for security measures.
Thanks dscristo, i am actually planning to upgrade the whole computer before too long. Anyone have any other ideas then as to the problem see this link for a picture of what I am seeing. http://www.ozbnbdir.com/images/findmyinn-1.jpg
It would have to be a browser related issue - IE borrows it's rendering engine from Windows so even a modern browser may not function as expected in an older unsupported version of Windows. I think the test case you are worrying about is really quite slim. Most users of Win98 will be using IE 5.0 or 5.5 and you should probably test that instead if you are truly concerned about that audience. In fact you should then also consider testing earlier Netscape versions as well if Win98 audiences concern you. I'd also like to mention this thread does not belong under services.
I knew a guy who had a machine with the following: 3.0G CPU 2G of Ram 250G HDD 256Mb Video Running it on Windows 98 SE. I must say it was pretty fast!
