Hi. I've been asked to do my first proper job, it's basically a shopping cart system based website. I've been asked to price it up and things, including hosting etc. I particularly like the look of ixwebhosting.com because of it and reputation and such. However, i'm based in the UK, and so it my client. I was wondering what the laws are regarding transporting personal data over seas (their datacenter is in kentuky USA.) Particularly the DPA and stuff. I think it would probably be easier just to go for a UK based hosting company, if you agree, does anyone have any suggestions on which one? Thanks in advanced Dom
There was a news item recently about it: http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=system+testing+data+protection&btnG=Search&meta= But more importantly, if yuor client and his audience are UK based, you will want UK hosting for SEO reasons more than anything else.
