I'm launching a website tomorrow, and was hoping to get some last minute advice. I don't want to give too much away until tomrrow, but our main marketing strategy is to release a video. the video itself is quite brilliant. we're hoping that the quality of the video itself will have a viral effect. in addition, we want to maximize this launch in every way possible. we'll be uploading to youtube, google, myspace, spikedhumor, and stupidvideos (any ideas for more?). then we'll invite forums for any related topic to come check it out. we'll probably embed the youtube video on our site to save bandwidth. one of my questions is how we should submit to digg. should we submit our page, with the embedded video, or submit the direct youtube link. we figure if the youtube video gets dugg, the traffic we get will be people who took the time to come see our site based on the quality of the video, which means high quality targeted traffic. besides that, anyone have any tips to really get this going?
Don't Digg anything from YouTube. Use a Revenue-Sharing service, like Revver.com and Digg *your* page with the Revverized video. - People can still 'embed' the revver video into their blogs/myspace/etc - You'll get some money back from Revver. - You'll have a good idea of how much audience digg has brought to you.
If you have a forum I would make some posts (or buy some paid posters ) before starting advertising. Because nobody will register and start posting on empty forum. Good luck
I'd recommend joint ventures. Find some complimentary sites to yours and approach them about partnering. They promote your products and in turn you promote theirs - everyone wins
actually what your saying, i did try it out once.Stupid person stole all my ideas and used it on his side. Not that you shouldnt joint venture but just be a little careful and dont get too friendly like i did
Never get into Business without Contracts I've had the same thing happen twice ... first time I was young and dumb. Second time it was a "friend" of mine who did that after he moved out of town.
