    Hey guys,

Launching a product in a couple weeks that should be big. I will be back on here when we do to announce the launch (through cb).

One thing i am wondering is how i should host the 2gig product download...?

    Any ideas?

I really want to get around hosting it on my site and racking up a huge server cost.

    Any suggestions would be killer!

    Thanks,

    Brad

The only way to Host it for cheap is to get an unlimited (unmetered) hosting.

Is there any hosting companies you think would be best for this sort of thing?

    Cheers

2gigs? Is it video? May be to consider another codec or compression?
    Just a thought ...

if the product needs to be that big and is good quality - keep it on your own server

Its actually a bunch of videos being played through a video product app.

They are all in .flv right now. Had them in swf before but no dice... app couldnt play it.

Is there any way to use codec or compression and still keep it in flv?

    Thanks

2gig is way too high bro.

Even a dedicated server would groan under that if it was too popular.

Need to work on compression. Get it down to 300mb max.

Well.. got her from 2.2gig to 1.3gig

Just ran the flv's through 'Free Video To Flash Converter' and spit them back out flv with mono sound.

Also tried compressing avi -> flv, but flv -> flv compressed more. messed up! ha

I really dont know what else i can do to get this thing smaller..

What size are the videos (screen size)?

Perhaps you can make them visibly smaller?

Sound will be a factor too. What quality is the audio?

    Screen size is 640x480.

I exported them out of camtasia as avi... i think thats the main problem because avis a huge! So i think im going to convert to wmv, then convert to flv and see how the compression is.

    Keep u posted. ;)

    Wow, good thinking!!

Rar or Zip? I thiiiiink Zip will be the better option in terms of wider compatability - as Zip is built into XP, but I think with Rars you need WinRar.
